Tales of Eternity

The "Tales of Eternity" program is inspired by Jean Daret's origins and where he lived, as well as the style and themes that emerge from his works.

À propos de l'événement

The common denominator is, of course, Louis XIV, without whom the French culture of the time could not have flourished: all the composers on the program, like Jean Daret himself, had some kind of relationship with him and his court.

Other aspects of the program are Flemish and Italian influences, religious motifs and the locality of Aix-en-Provence. Thus, the program brings together various motets for soprano in Latin, framed by instrumental pieces (Pièces en trio, Sonnerie de Sainte Geneviève, Human Voices) by the legendary gambist and composer Marin Marais.

Program :

Antonio Caldara

Motet "Haec est Regina virginum"

André Campra

Motet "Ecce quam bonum" (Psalm 132) from Livre II des motets

Motet "Domine, Dominus noster" (Psalm 8) from Livre IV of the motets

Henri Dumont

Motet "Ave virgo gratiosa"

"Récit de l'éternité"

Marin Marais

Selection from "Pièces en trio"

Sonnerie de Sainte Geneviève du Mont de Paris

Les Voix Humaines
