À propos de l'événement
Public concerts in German-speaking countries actually have their origin in a café! In the "Zimmermannisches Caffee-Hauß" on the elegant Catherinenstraße behind the Leipziger Marktplatz, the owner of an enterprising café, Gottfried Zimmermann, organized concerts with the Collegium musicum in a hall that can accommodate up to 150 people. Visitors to the café not only enjoyed delicious drinks and food, but also musical delights. Johann Sebastian Bach, his sons, pupils and students were part of the ensemble's regular programming.
Café Zimmermann takes its name from this first public institution in concert and is mainly dedicated to the repertoire that has been played there.
